A Reminder to Rest
Sometimes, God Will Tell You To Rest
Psalms 46:10 NLT: "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world."
This verse helps explain why your mind may feel foggy. Yesterday, you were on fire and knocking out tasks, but today, you can't seem to get the gears turning.
God is telling you to humble yourself and recognize his sovereignty. He wants you to remember that although He will bless the works of your hands, they alone do not hold power. Working hard and being obedient are essential, but your efforts do not elevate you—God does.
Taking your hands off things is an act of faith. Obedience to pause when God tells you to is just as vital as working hard because He may be moving something around and doesn't need you to act just yet.
For example, imagine you are stopped at a red light. You can't just jet across and run the light—you'd get hit, cause an accident, prolong what could have been a short ten-minute trip, and introduce an entire delay.
So do not grow impatient or frustrated when God tells you to pause. Be thankful that we serve a heavenly Father who calls us to rest. Be grateful that even when we rest and take our hands off something, God will still do exceedingly, abundantly, and above.
Pay special attention to the dreams the Lord sends you during your rest. Drink water. Feed your spirit with the word—perhaps fall asleep to an audio Bible. Do these things so that when Jesus instructs you to get back up again - when He says, "Green light," you'll be energized and well-fed for the journey ahead.
With Gratitude,
Salimah
Scripture to Meditate On: Matthew 8:23-27 NLT: "Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" Jesus responded, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.
The disciples were amazed. "Who is this man?" they asked. "Even the winds and waves obey him!""
