Awake

You lift me lightly from my dreams at dawn

As drapes in heaven part like blooming rose

Your kiss ignites my praise and so I yawn

And stretch my arms like faith your love bestows

Gihon Spring, I am your Pool Siloam

Your eucalyptus showers lave my flesh

Vocalizing praise like harpist poems

Anoint me in your oil as I dress

The world beyond this door resounds in toil

Vignette expands like pure impending doom

“Go out”, you say. “My plan may not be foiled”

“Daughter, the throne I give you must assume”

For such a time as this, you made me queen

So such a God as this, the world may glean

With Gratitude,

Salimah
