Scripture: Proverbs 6:1-5
Highlighted message: "If you have put up security for your neighbor, you have been trapped. Go to the point of exhaustion and give your neighbor no rest to free yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter."
My Notes:
This verse ties into breaking generational curses.
Breaking a generational curse requires the understanding that everyone makes their own decisions and is responsible for what they believe & do. When you take agency over yourself and nobody else, it frees you from the snare you trapped yourself in with people. This breaks a curse.
My Question: Lord, I'm conflicted, because sometimes your word tells us to give. But in this passage, it warns not to give.
Understanding: ** After a quick googling ** : “Helping others in need is a virtue, but it should be done responsibly and within one's means.”
God said to me, "You know how to budget. I taught you how to budget. So even the time, finances, emotional energy (your emotions/heart) all need to be stewarded, even when considering to give."
Just like in the world, there are some resources that are more valuable than others. Some, like money, hold very little value, and you can trust that that will come back to you quickly and freely when given away. May take some time, but very likely it’ll return. Time - very valuable and this is not something you quite get back. Emotions/heart - emotions can shift but the danger is that you run the risk of letting in spirits that aren’t of God, i.e. empathy is sharing the feelings of another.
But the truth is that they feel those feelings as a result of their own actions. They’ve earned the season they’re in. And though we feel bad about it and hate to see it, the most helpful thing we can do rather than sharing the emotions/curses/financial sickness - the most helpful thing is to do what God sent you here to do, which is give them the truth. Because it’s the truth that saved you from your low seasons. And if you give them the truth, it will save them too - if they choose to take it. And if they still refuse, you have no business stagnating in sorrow for them, because their rejection of God is evidence that the spirit living inside of them is not of God (yet!). And you have an obligation as God's child to not be standing with the enemy. Pray from afar if it so comes to that.
I told God basically this is sad and it sucks. And He asked, well do you have faith? Faith that I can move in their lives like I did yours? Faith I am all powerful, powerful enough to change their hearts whenever I choose, the same way I can harden hearts? So get out of the way, and just pray. Because so long as you stay ensnared, guess what? Then the enemy won’t let go of EITHER of you- because the enemy staying on them, means the enemy knows it can get to you. But when you cut those ties, the enemy wont truly be interested in attacking your loved ones anymore because he sees it's no longer a viable route to get to you and your purpose . He’ll have to try and make a new plan to get to you, the one he knows God called to break the curse and cut off the devil's livelihood.
Closing message to you, friend:
This part was not in my notes, but I just want to say I pray that this blesses you. Continue to have a big beautiful heart like Jesus, but make sure your cup is full first. Remember to listen carefully for the voice of God, so that He orders all your steps. He knows you want to see your parents, your family, your friends, your communities to thrive. But you are only one person - you can't do it all. But Jesus?? Big God?? He can do exceedingly, abundantly, and ABOVE. I love you guys, have a blessed day! 💖
With Gratitude,
